Good Vibrations 001

So I figured 90% of my Instagram posts are artists and their music (cause I’m goddamn awful at coming up with witty captions) so why not use my blog to share the plays. I’m thinking I’ll make this some sort of weekly collection so that way I’m not aggressively posting on here. Now to come up with a good name for this…

Scrap clips | One

Using random clips from different shoots to create a short story. Might actually turn this into a weekly exercise, to keep the creativity flowing.

City Trust

A lovely window sill on level 3 of the McLeod building in Edmonton, AB. Would be cool if Instagram let you post some lengthier vertical photos.

Sensō-ji - Asakusa, Tokyo Loop // 5

This was an interesting time during the trip because I forgot I was able to shoot at a lower shutter speed to achieve motion in a crowded area. Pair that up with some music/sound effects and you get yourself a pretty dynamic hyper-lapse.

Shooting on 35mm

So I still haven’t received my Hasselblad back from repair and I’ve been fiending to shoot some film. My sister was gifted a 35mm and decided to borrow it. I gotta say I was impressed by the quality of photos that came out of it. Was also nice to see how our new spot-meter worked. Here’s a collection of random photos taken over the summer with portra 400.

08.23.19 | Compound Cut Club

It’s been a long time coming.. it was only a few years ago Jay-r talked about running his own barber shop. Makes me proud to see other peoples success after all the hard work. Congrats! If you’re looking for the cleanest fade in Edmonton, you’ll find it there.

Here’s a short video I whipped up of Compound Cut Club on the grand opening night:

08.18.19 | Spam and Pineapples

I was lucky enough to work with some super talented people on this vintage 70’s shoot this past Sunday. I got to plate some jello… but also shot some digital, 35mm film and super 8mm. I have some video footage coming soon-ish once I get these super 8 cartridges sent out and processed. For now here are some photos I shot on the Sony.

Luna

Possibly one day I will own a telescope to stare at the moon every night. Here’s a neat collection of composite moon photos taken on Reddit and turned into a GIF. It’s quite stunning to see how much detail you can capture with a telescope and a camera.

Good Information Music

Honestly so happy our friend, Alfred (Freydo), invited us over to check out this local talent during a chilly art festival. When I heard them for the first time I knew I was going to see them again. Just recently they began to play some incredible jazz renditions of today’s hip-hop artists like Kendrick Lamar and Tyler the Creator. The covers sound beautiful but their original music is quite phenomenal which I can only explain as pleasant or uplifting, and watching them perform together was just as amazing. Listening to Fringes is quite a trip, I'm crossing my fingers hoping they drop some music on streaming platforms sometime soon. These mates are not to be slept on! You may have one more chance to see them before Biboye (the bands drummer) moves to Finland for school.
