The White Sands National Monument is located just 3.5 hours away from Albuquerque, New Mexico. These dunes sit a little odd in the middle of the American terrain, but gave us a breathtaking start to our road trip. Although the sun was shining we found it to be a little chilly, so make sure to bring some layers if you plan to visit in the early mornings. Fun fact: the “sand” is actually not sand, but a crystal that is high in gypsum, a fine grain that is actually clear but appears white due to the sun's reflection.

Film for 2019

Primarily I’m heavy on the digital photo side, but this year I plan to bring some more film rolls on the road with me.

A concept from the 50's

Yesterday Elon posted a concept of what he wants his starship test vehicle to look like. A 1950’s streamlined aesthetic with modern hard lines on the fins. The concept of the future from the 50’s brings out a chrome-like outer layer and bulbous rocket head. Let’s hope the end product ends up looking similar with the windows attached.

With such a strong American identity I wish Canada did something as extravagant for today’s space travel. I’m hoping we at least update that Canadarm2 on the International Space Station (what a horrible name btw).

Actually Alright Studio

I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard on a project… What was once a sketch has now become a reality. A new music studio was in the talks since 2017 maybe??? Just a couple weeks ago we finished building it from the ground up. Just that experience alone was a highlight of 2018, being able to build it with friends and finally moving into our new space. Actually Alright was on hiatus for quite a while now but with our new setup we’re hoping to bring new sounds and projects into 2019.

Random subject but I obsess over the topic of space because of how little we really know about it. I’m always eager to read on our new discoveries every morning and hearing the progression in science and space exploration *shakes vigorously*. So instead of keeping all these new findings to myself I thought it would be cool to share some of the newest information about what's been going on out there, starting with China's new rover!

Back in December China launched a special payload to the dark side of the moon! *cue Pink Floyd*. The rover, Chang’e 4, for the first time landed on the unfamiliar side. Just earlier today it was able to share several photos of its touchdown and the area around it. Even though the photos that come back from these missions resemble barren wastelands it excites me to know how far human achievement has taken us. Possibly in the not too distant future we’ll be able to terraform these planets (once we figure out the mess we made on Earth). Chang’e 4 will be conducting many tests but I think one of the coolest ones is what it carries. A mini “biosphere” containing plant seeds and insect eggs (silkworms). This biosphere is to act like a self sustaining ecosystem, that is, if it proves to be successful growing in a place completely different to ours. TAKE THAT IN! SPACE BUGS WHAT?!

Anyways here’s the link to the article if you found this interesting.

I believe we’re about to experience a new space race and I can’t be anymore excited to hear what's to be found in 2019.

Demo Reel 2018

Every few months I do an update to my Demo Reels with recent projects. Here’s the last one for 2018

Junji Ito

I’m extremely happy how well this turned out! Shout out to m.grey tattoo cause this turned out to be my favorite tattoo yet. Also thanks to Vivian for modifying the design, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to make it look this good. If you love horror I recommend you read some Junji Ito if you want to see some pretty vile illustrations.

2019

I’m not much of a writer to begin with but I thought it would be nice to share a bit more of my personal side through this lovely blog section. I feel that I’ve been lacking in the interactive aspect of social media but this seems like the place to do it. I’d love to keep a semi-active blog going throughout 2019 updating it with more photos, interests and thoughts cause who doesn’t love hearing about other peoples lives??
